After a career writing books and articles for magazines, woodworking expert Bob Settich started Settich Media to produce instructional books and videos of projects he designed or topics of interest to woodworkers. Since Bob is an excellent craftsman, he and I chose an Arts & Crafts inspired design and colors for his book and package. We wanted his instructions to be easy to read and follow throughout the book. Our other goal was to make the book available to be read on a computer, tablet or by the customer printing the pages. First, we reworked his classic The Hardware Handbook. This encyclopedic book is loaded with step-by-step instructions supplemented by Bob’s photos, to make construction as easy as possible. The format design and colors were adapted for his other book, Build an Arts & Crafts Dining Chair.

The Hardware Handbook is an encyclopedia of hardware. To make it easier for the user to track where they were in the book,
we color coded the different sections.

Build an Arts & Crafts Dining Chair is the second in the series of books by Settich Media.
We chose one of the colors used in The Hardware Handbook and used it throughout the dining chair book.
